Windows 7 Supports Dolby Digital Plus

Good news for people using Windows 7 as their HTPC. Windows 7 is going to support Dolby Digital Plus. You have to have Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions to use it. The Plus offers higher bit rate and better sound quality. It will also work on extenders. I’m not sure what Dolby means when they say it will support extenders, maybe existing. The extender market has pretty much been discontinued but it’s possible they know something the rest of us don’t.
