The year of the Media Centers: 2007

Well I have been into Media Centers for some time now. With digital media you don’t have to get off your couch to look for a CD or a DVD. Flip on the TV and the media center then browse away. Find a movie you want to watch then click on it. Sit back and enjoy. Same thing with TV shows. Browse the guide, search for movies, and record. It’s so easy. But as fun as that is I want more. I have been waiting for extenders and more products to choose from. This year I have it. As soon as CES kicked off news started coming in about all this Vista media center add-ons, extenders, HTPCs, and remotes. Where was this two years ago. I guess the people that have the 2005 version were just ahead of their time, and so was the software. Unlike MCE 2005 that didn’t get much attention from third parties, Vista is all over the place. Companies finally see media centers as a huge market. I’m guessing that the market is there now because of the younger people who have embraced digital media as a way of life. It’s putting the VCRs, CD’s, and DVDs out to pasture. We don’t need them and don’t want them. I’m excited about this year and what the possibilities of media centers will bring to the home. This year, more than any other year, is going to change the way we watch TV, movies, and listen to music.
