PlaysForSure Gone Forever in August

On August 31st 2008 PlaysForSure servers will be shut down. What that means to you if you have PlaysForSure music is it won’t play, that’s for sure. Microsoft wanted to give people that bought music through MSN plenty of time to search for alternatives. I guess the music will play if you download the licenses for the tracks, but I wouldn’t trust that. My suggestion is to convert it even with a loss of quality. Really what Microsoft should do is strip the DRM of the files or offer you the opportunity to redownload the files in DRM free format.

Really what you need to do is start shopping DRM free like Amazon MP3. That way when another company shuts the servers down you won’t be affected.
