Dell gets Ubuntu but no media
Dell is going to start selling computers with Ubuntu on it. While I think this is a great idea they are lacking some major things.

* At this time, we are not including any support for proprietary audio or video codecs that are not already distributed with Ubuntu 7.04. These include MPEG 1/2/3/4, WMA, WMV, DVD, Quicktime, etc. We are evaluating options for providing this support in the future.

Not supporting some major media formats is a big deal. I’m not sure why they thought it would be a good idea to sell the machine with ubuntu without popular audio formats. Maybe this is the idea, to offer something people wanted but not make it good enough that anyone would want to buy it. Let us hope they fix this soon.
