Inklet is a new program that adds some tablet features to your MacBook trackpad. The video above is a demo of the software while using Photoshop. The program is $24.95 for the software or $34.95 with a pogo sketch. I would rather just use my finger but I couldn’t find on their site if it works with fingers. Shouldn’t be a problem, right?

TechSmith has released Snagit for Mac. While it’s only in beta it looks good and is free to try. While there isn’t any pricing listed, I’m guessing it will be around $50 like the Windows version. If you’re looking for a Mac screen capture program with lots of extras I would definitely try it out.

Media Browser for Windows Media Center is a pretty slick looking add-in. MediaSmartServer.net has a huge review of the software and goes in a lot deeper than I could describe. Right now it’s free but according to MediaSmartServer it will be switching to a paid model. Some of the highlights of the software below.

The Boxee remote widget is a widget to control Boxee from your laptop. Simple idea but it’s a great one. I am generally on my laptop while I watch TV. Instead of grabbing for a remote it would be great to just use the widget to control. There are a few steps involved in configuring it to work like host name and the web server enabled, but if you’re using Boxee you can probably figure that out.

They claim 10% increase in performance. I’m seeing a little over that on my MacBook Pro (early 2008). I still haven’t tried it on my Mac Pro but I think it will get even better with 12GB of memory and 8 cores. They also trimmed the fat of the application to speed things up. Most are still probably going to see performance in the 22 to 30 fps but that’s close to real time so a 2 hour movie will take 2 hours to transcode. They offer a live preview so you don’t have to do the entire movie to see what it will look like. You can find out more about it here.

There are lots of people that have been waiting for this especially since they released the iPhone app.

I have talked about Orb many times and its uses. It’s well worth trying out especially if you want media on the go.

It works with Fedora and Ubuntu. I’m surprised to see a Linux version showing up by Hulu but I’m glad it’s available. The video below shows the Linux version in action. It’s not available in Ubuntu’s package manager so you will have to keep an eye out for updates when available.

The new version allows you to purchase music through the Amazon MP3 Store. Browsing and buying music has a very basic and clean look. The best part about the doubleTwist software is that it will sync with hundreds of different phones and MP3 players. You drag the file to your device and it is automatically converted to work with it. Right now the program is only available on Mac but a Windows version is coming soon.

I posted about installing iTunes 9 on your Windows Home Server a few days back. I didn’t want to leave the new Zune HD fans out of the picture so I wanted to get a link up about installing Zune Software 4.0 on your Windows Home Server. The install looks similar to the iTunes install with editing a few files for the installer. I haven’t played with the new 4.0 software at all so I’m not sure if there are special features like Home Sharing in iTunes 9.
