It has many new features along with bug fixes. Media Browser is a Windows Media Center plug-in that provides artwork and information about your digital media. It organizes it in a user friendly way. It also work with My Movies. Some of the new things below.

- The Media type is now retrieved from locally stored metadata.
- Better support for using MyMovies and Media Browser side-by-side. The user can now set the preferred order of local artwork.
- Watched status indicators are working normally again.
- It is now possible to Clear the Cache from the Media Browser Configuration Wizard.
- Various sort-order bugs for Media Collections have been fixed.
- Lots of other bugs have been fixed.
- You can use SQLite and share playstate settings & display settings.
- Better rotating backdrop support. It is now possible to randomize the order in which they appear.
- Using the custom entrypoints no longer results in a full library refresh.
- Improved installer interface that can create optional shortcuts to Media Browser.
- Overall performance increase due to various changes to the cache mechanism.
- Last but not least, Media Browser can now be localized by theme developers and the community.

In The Movies 2.0 is a cool plug-in for Windows Media Center. It gives you movie info and times in your area. It fits into Windows Media Center and works with extenders The one big thing it’s missing is trailers for the movies. For $5.99 it needs to include that. The video above will give you a walk-thru of the plug-in.

Lifehacker has a nice top 10 lists of Windows Media Center plug-ins. The commercial skip is probably the must have for your recorded TV. It’s been around for awhile and is still very popular. The list is good and if you use Windows Media Center you need to try them out.

There are certain things that Boxee brings to the table that Windows Media Center doesn’t and also the other way around. Boxee Windows Media Center Integration mixes the two so you don’t have to decide which one you want to use. The nice thing about integrating Boxee into Windows Media Center is that you can go back and forth between the two using your Windows Media Center remote. The program is free so if you use Windows Media Center but like Boxee check it out.

Windows Home Server plug-in health has been updated with some new additions and bug fixes. This plug-in allows you to view health status for your Windows Home Server from mobile devices. Devices like iPhone, iPod Touch, Android and Palm Pre. It reads it’s data from the health.xml file. This is a great program to easily monitor your Windows Home Server.

New in this version:

* Renamed Console Errors to Console Status

* Icon Added to Console Status Item

* Updated Icons

* Better handling of “non standard” web site configurations. I’d like to thank Snowdins for highlighting his neat

* Custom Action he worked on for P80.

HP bundles a service that works with S3 in it’s MediaSmart servers but for the DIY crowd you can have that same security with CloudBerry. It’s only $29.99 and there is a 30-day trail. They do have future plans for FTP upload which would be beneficial to someone like me that has a ton of space through web hosting.

The popular plug-in for Windows Media Center and Windows Home Server will be launching version 3.0 soon. The beta will be available on this coming Tuesday. Right now there isn’t much information about the new version. The screen shots look very cool. More information will be available from The Digital Lifestyle.

The video above shows a Windows Media Center plug-in called TunerFree MCE running on Windows 7 netbook. I haven’t talked much about the plug-in on the site before. Not only is the plug-in already working on Windows 7 it is a nice looking interface. The plug-in brings Hulu, BBC and ITV to Windows Media Center.

It wasn’t good news yesterday when we found out Boxee couldn’t offer Hulu content anymore. The good news is there is already a plug-in to get your Hulu content back. Jake Marsh is offering a plug-in called TV Library for Boxee. This is just an alpha release but it’s there and will hopefully help you limp through until Boxee fixes the situation.

I have been following the Boxee project since they started and I know they will be working hard to get Hulu back. But until that happens, TV Library and other plug-ins that will show up will help fill the gap.

WaveExpress is shutting down TVTonic.  You can still use the program to stream video from RSS but they are shutting down their content servers.  They say it’s because of tough financial times.  The announcement did make it seem that it might come back.

In these tough financial times we are faced with the need to take down the TVTonic service while we restructure for the future.

Sounds like they are saving bandwidth to save money. I’m thinking that they will continue development and when times are better or they have a better business model for TVTonic it will be back. They say to check back later for more news.
