There are also so UI improvements and other enhancements. Just connect the media player to the Internet if it’s not already.

* Skip time option when watching movies to jump forward by 20 minute intervals

Popcorn Hour quietly released the A-200 media player. It goes on sale on January 18th and I’m sure there will be some wait time with that like when I ordered my A-100. It is $179 but features a new design and faster processor for handling all the HD content you have ripped. It’s very similar to the C-200 specs but doesn’t have the front LCD or drive bay. And really from all the reviews on the C-200 the LCD isn’t worth it. I’m thinking it’s about time to update my outdated A-100.

With all the HD media players on the market it is tough to decide which one is best. Gizmodo has a great article comparing five of the best out there. If you don’t want to read through it look at the chart breakdowns to see how they compare. They tested the WD TV Live, Seagate Freeagent theater, Popcorn Hour C-200, Patriot Box Office and the Netgear Digital Entertainer Live. I don’t want to spoil the winner but I was a little surprised by who won.

I have been getting lots of questions about streaming devices and which one to get. While I haven’t played with most, because there are hundreds, there are a few that stand out. Since I first read about the WD TV Live HD media player I was impressed with it’s supported formats and small size. The WD TV was nice but with no network it was pretty useless for most. The WD TV Live adds wired networking and the ability to add a wireless usb adapter. There are a lot of formats which are highlighted below. I wish they would integrate Netflix streaming but is possible through the PlayOn software I have talked about before. I have two Roku boxes but at only $119 the WD TV Live is a better buy. Crunch Gear has a really nice review of the WD TV Live. If your thinking about buying one, like I am, I would read over their review. It will probably persuade you into getting one.
