You can get the 6″ screen in either wi-fi only for $139 or the wi-fi + 3g model for $189. The new models are graphite and feature the better e-ink screen. They will be available August 27th.

The Kindle dropped to $189 and the Nook dropped to $149 for the WiFi version and $199 for the 3G version. It started with Barnes and Noble dropping the price first and Amazon followed suit shortly after. I don’t read enough books to invest in an ebook reader but they are hitting a price point where many will pick them up.

Amazon has a new page up that says Kindle Apps is coming to tablets including the iPad. The screenshots look pretty good but will it be a native iPad app? I think they are going to create a browser based version that’s how they can be so confident that it will be on the iPad. If it’s a native app they might have trouble getting it approved by Apple. There have been other apps that got rejected for duplicating Apple’s services. Right now it looks good and I like the direction Amazon is going with this. Tablet computers are going to start seeing mainstream action and Amazon will be right there to provide you reading material.

Amazon has free one-day shipping on the kindle. If you’re a late shopper there is still time. I am just imagining Kindles in boxes scattered all over the world ready to be sent to their final destination. If you are in the market, having it tomorrow at no extra charge is great.

Geek Tonic has a review on the Barnes & Noble Nook from two perspectives: a geek and a non-geek. It’s very interesting to read both reviews and see what matters to the individual. Features that a geek wants don’t even matter to others but most of the time gadget reviews are done by geeks. It was a cool idea to mix it up with two reviews. I was laughing through some of the non-geek review.

The review does compare the Nook to the Kindle so you get a bonus with that.

Amazon released Kindle software for Windows. It is only in Beta right now but it’s free.

# Create bookmarks and view the annotations you created on your Kindle

It’s cool that it will start you from the last page you were on. The Mac version is coming soon.
