I find it funny how carefree the 4G term is passed around. It’s confusing to customers that don’t understand. But if you want nationwide 4G T-Mobile wants you, at least that’s what the commercial says.

Now there is an app call Almost Hands Free that will allow you to find and play music by voice. The app is 99 cents which is a bargain if you use your Android phone while you are driving.

* Quick access to maps
* Play your playlists
* Music pauses when a call comes in you can resume it easily when the call is done
* You can teach the program what results you want for a given word
* Increase or Descrease the size of the font to fit your phone’s screen.

It also works with photos and videos as well. It will convert the videos to work with the KIN. I have used Mark/Space software in the past and it works very well. It’s nice to see them expanding to such a new device.

There are other new things like Flash and apps on SD card. I’m sure carriers won’t like tethering built-in but it’s already been possible just not over Wifi. I currently use PDANet and connect my Droid to my MacBook Pro via USB. The Wifi will be nice because I can connect the iPad to my phone since the iPad won’t allow Internet over Bluetooth. Verizon was advertising that the Palm Pre could be a mobile hotspot so I have hope they won’t block this. More over at TechCrunch.

I know this is possible now on Android if you Root your phone. I’m not willing to root my phone yet.

Doesn’t look a whole lot different than OS 5 on the storm to me. What Blackberry needs to do is get developers working on apps. The phone OS is just part of the puzzle, the biggest part are the apps people can download. I couldn’t have been happier moving from the Storm to the Droid. The wife still uses a Storm which just reminds me how far behind their platform is.

MobileCrunch has the directions on getting it installed. There are a few steps but it’s fairly simple if you follow them. I haven’t done the upgrade yet but it’s probably on my list of things to do tonight.

This will give you a great signal in your home as it routes calls and data over your home Internet connection. The device is $150 with a $100 rebate. That’s a pretty good deal if you ask me. Verizon has a similar device but it cost $250 and doesn’t work for data connections. While you are helping AT&T with signal problems it’s a cheap investment to provide great coverage inside your home.
