It is now available on the iTunes store to make organizing your movies on the go easier. It will sync data between your phone and your computer. Right now there is a free version but plans are in place to limit that version and create a paid version. It will be similar to how the My Movies program works on Windows with a points system.

Amazon has a new page up that says Kindle Apps is coming to tablets including the iPad. The screenshots look pretty good but will it be a native iPad app? I think they are going to create a browser based version that’s how they can be so confident that it will be on the iPad. If it’s a native app they might have trouble getting it approved by Apple. There have been other apps that got rejected for duplicating Apple’s services. Right now it looks good and I like the direction Amazon is going with this. Tablet computers are going to start seeing mainstream action and Amazon will be right there to provide you reading material.

The program only works with Windows.

You can scan the barcode, take a picture of the product or say what you want. It also saves your searches and you can email the results to friends. It’s a great program to make sure that sale price is really a good deal or not. If you are in a store it’s probably cheaper online.

Air Video is a application on Windows or Mac that allows you to stream videos to your iPhone or iPod Touch. The file format doesn’t matter as it will convert it live for you to stream. It reminds me a lot of Orb but more simplistic. If you just want to stream videos the Air Video app sounds like a great program. There is a free version that has some limitations or you can buy the Pro app for $2.99.

The biggest improvement was the added QWERTY keyboard to perform searches. It’s available in the iTunes app store now. You can see my previous posts about the software here.

New in this version:

1. QWERTY search keyboard – intuitive QWERTY keyboard provided to enter search information. Roku style search keyboard can also be used. (Set via app configuration option.)
2. Search automation – DVPRemote automates the entry of search information on Roku “Search” screens. Just enter the search terms using the DVPRemote keyboard and let it navigate the Roku search screen and select the search term numbers and letters for you.
3. Buttons autorepeat when they are held down – just like the Roku infrared remote
4. Buttons can be animated with highlights when pressed
5. Host information can be saved to player list even if a connection can not be made to it. (For advanced users)
6. Configuration information can be emailed to the developer to help troubleshoot networking and other issues.
7. Additional configuration options available in app settings.
8. Bug fixes.

There is a new version that has some major improvements. The graphics has been redone to look like the Roku remote. It auto-discovers the Roku boxes now vs. typing in IP addresses like before. It can also handle multiple boxes. The app is 99 cents and available in the iTunes App Store.

Elgato has released a placeshifting app for the iPhone. The app is $5 and allows you to watch, record, and enjoy live and recorded TV on your iPhone or iPod touch. I always like the eyeTV software because of its OS X look and feel. I haven’t really used it much since early version 3 release. There are plug-ins to integrate into front row and if you get a good remote you can control boxee, front row and eyetv to make for a really nice experience. DVPRemote is a iPhone/iPod Touch application that allows you to control the Roku box. You have to be connected to WiFi on the same network as the Roku box. I don’t have much of a need for it but it’s just cool it’s possible. The app is 99 cents so won’t cost much if you want to try it out.
