Calibrate Your HDTV to Save Money

A THX study shows that calibrating your TV can save you money on your electric bill. Most people don’t even adjust a single setting when they get their new HDTV home. I can honestly say I didn’t do much to the plasma and the LCD I didn’t touch. Not only will adjusting the HDTV give you a better picture it can also save you up to 50% on energy. That could be $40 to $50 a year in savings. Calibrating your TV isn’t difficult and only requires about 20 minutes of your time. You don’t have to spend $20 on a calibration DVD, lots of DVDs include THX optimizer in the extras. Might be a good weekend project to save some money and get a better picture.
The settings I did adjust on my plasma reduced it’s operating electric use by 50%. LCDs that number is going to be less.
